"Deserts and Seagulls" is a contrast in itself, yet closely connected. Where there is a desert today, there used to be water. “I picture the seagulls flying over the coast of California, where we used to visit my grandparents as children,” says Jennifer Jans. “And at the same time I feel the almost unbearable heat of the red desert landscape just a few miles away. A place where I love to go in my mind. A place that always takes me back to solid ground.”
The song "Seagulls" is an ode to pausing and taking distance. In our daily lives we often forget to take a break and breathe in deeply. The great excess of information and many to-dos can quickly feel numbing - like a sea full of sand.
